What do you like to do when you're not a therapist?
Spending time with my husband, dog, family and friends, traveling, gardening, going to concerts/shows, cooking/baking, reading, working out and decorating.
What are three words your loved ones would use to describe you?
Caring, loyal, funny
What do your clients say about you?
Clients say they feel supported and not judged in my office. And that they appreciate my approach of not focusing on diagnoses, but rather how experiences may have impacted their moods, behaviors, and relationships.
How do you incorporate your own identity into your role as a therapist?
My identity as the eldest daughter and grandchild has taught me the importance of maintaining connections to loved ones, holding space and supporting others while treating others with kindness, acceptance and warmth.
What is your universal piece of advice?
My advice to clients who are considering working on past trauma/pain is "You are carrying it anyways, it is living "rent free" in your mind and body. When you are ready, you might as well work through it with support".
